History: 

• The term Artificial Intelligence is first used at Dartmouth College in 1956. But nowadays this term is so popular thanks to the huge volume of data, advanced algorithms and more improvements in systems. 
• In the 1950s, the main topics explored in this field were usually symbolic data and problem-solving.
• In the 1960s, the US Department of Defence took an interest in this field and tried to train computers to do basic human reasoning. For example, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) completed street mapping projects in the 1970s. And DARPA produced intelligent personal assistants in 2003, long before Siri, Alexa or Cortana were household names.
• In 1974-1980, there was a field drop, also called "AI Winter". Many people criticized progress in the AI field. 
• In the 1980s, there was a breakthrough in Machine Learning, which was a kind of advanced AI.
• In 1997, IBM's Deep Blue began the first computer to beat a Russian Grandmaster, making history.
